Best Places to Visit Around Bangalore


Bangalore is itself one of the most renowned places among all the other tourist destinations all over India, where people can actually visit and rejuvenate themselves. The capital city of Karnataka is economically rich and is also advanced in the technological field. The city is popularly known as the “IT Capital of India” because of its huge contribution to the nation’s leading information technology field. This high-tech city is also attracting tourists from all over the world as many places in Bangalore city are worth visiting. The historical monuments, forts, hills, valleys, mountains, etc around and in Banglore are beautiful and one should not miss the opportunity of visiting there. The lush green beauty this city owns has made it mandatory for the people to call it “The Garden City of India”. The beautiful city is known as the “Scotland of India” lying at a distance of around 265 km from Bangalore.  As soon as you wake up you get the fresh aroma of the coffee and can witness the plantations so beautifully done. The historical stories, luxury this city offers, the adventure and the delicious mouth-watering dishes it serves is something amazing about the hill station. It resides in the Western Ghats of India, offering a breathtaking view of the hilly regions. Not only the hill station amazes nature lovers but also shows its richness in the martial arts practised by the Kodavas (Specific Community of Coorg). The hilly areas of Coorg not just show the ravishing beauty of the place but also introduce us to the level of adventure and thrill one can get by visiting the ancient Madikeri Fort, the adventurous spot that is Abbey Falls, etc. “Keil Poldhu” which means worship of weapons, “Cauvery Sankramana” means the return of the river goddess and the “Huttari” means harvest, these are the local festivals celebrated in Coorg. Also do not miss the towns nearby namely Gonikoppal, Somwarpet, Kushalnagar, Pollibetta, and Virajpet.


If you want to plan an eventful one-day trip, your main focus should be on Kanakapura city, which is 69 km away from Bangalore. There are varied Water sporting activities which you can experience and get overjoyed after witnessing the same or can go on a night trekking expedition to explore the nightlife of the area around. If you visit the place with the family and are least interested in trekking and camping and just viewing them, Chunchi Falls and Mekadatu are the most surreal beauty spots that you should not miss. You will have to spend 2 hours to reach Kanakapura. Shivagiri Kshetra Shivaldappana Betta, Kabbaladurga, Bananthimari Betta, etc are places worth visiting in Kanakapura. One can go trekking at Kabbaladurga or else visit the Bananthimari Betta.  October to April is the best time to visit the place.


The hill station residing on the top of Western Ghats, Sakleshpur is a tiny beautiful town situated in the state of Karnataka at a distance of 221 Km away from Bangalore. The place is popular all around Bangalore city because of its rich plantation of Coffee, tea and species. The actual economical source of the town is from the plantations of Coffee, Tea and species. Manjarabad Fort was built in the shape of a star, and is among the prime tourist places in Sakleshpur. The city connects two major cities named Bangalore and Mangalore. The ancient Sakaleswara temple which is 600 years old resides on the banks of the river Hemavathi.  Pushpagiri, Dodda Betta and Kumara Parvatha Hills can be seen far away from the top of the hill. Railway Bridge Trekking activity can be done which consists of a 52 km long rail trek connecting Sakleshpur and Kukke Subramanya road junction.

Savandurga Hills

Savandurga Hills, the wonderful plan for the weekend, are approximately at a distance of 49 km from Bangalore and are situated near Amaravati river. These beautiful hills are the perfect weekend getaway around Bangalore. The hills are one of the largest Single Rock Formation found in Asia. The adventurous activities like rock climbing, trekking etc can be done over here. Thippagondanahalli Reservoir, Narsimha Temple, Manchinbele Dam are some of the few places to be visited around this place. November to May is the best time to visit the place. The place offers wondrous scenic beauty found all around and gives the picturesque destination one that a perfect photographer wants.
